There in the Stars

by Lexie McDonald

The stars paint the sky,
Clouds run from the moon.
I wish I could find you;
Why’d you go away so soon?

The sun never rises,
The sky remains dark.
I thought I would see you,
There in the stars.

Could you come home?
Don’t stay away from me.
I just have to wait,
I have to believe.

You’re somewhere out there,
You haven’t gone far.
But then in my mind,
I see that speeding car.

The crash and the bang,
The flash of bright light.
I shouted for you,
But you left me that night.

The nurses said sorry,
Our children cried.
I fell to the ground,
And whispered goodbye.

You flew from me,
Like a lark in the sky.
How could this happen?
Please tell me why.

The stars paint the sky,
The clouds run from the moon.
I wish I could find you;
Why’d you go away so soon?
